Interior & Shop Fit-outs under $600,000 Laing & Simmons, Port Macquarie
Judge's comments - "This exceptional fit-out was constructed within a new build in a historic part of the town of Port Macquarie. Joyce Constructions worked closely with their client to incorporate the old with the new and included the use on convict bricks and ballast rocks from old ships into the fit-out. Solid timber features and the use of ceiling features and lighting, provide warmth to the surrounding office spaces. Joyce Constructions are to be congratulated for an excellent project throughout.
Engineering Achievement Award Project 124 – “Watonga” 62 Watonga Street Port Macquarie
Judge's comments - "The builder has managed to safely deliver a project that involved daunting engineering challenges and a tight construction schedule. Issues arising from a steep site with difficult access and the constraints of the existing structure has been confronted and overcome to provide the dwelling with vastly improved vehicular access and amenity.
Excellence in Work health and Safety – Small Business
Judge's comments - "Joyce Constructions have implemented a practical management system which effectively integrates safety into the day to day operations. This collaborative approach to Work Health and Safety, working with staff, subcontractors, tier one builders and SafeWork NSW has delivered excellent safety and return to work outcomes for this small business and offers consistency, flexibility and scope for future development across all facets of its business."
Northern NSW Best Custom Built Home between $400,001-$600,000
Judges comments - "Design of the property is unique and has the wow factor and the finishes and workmanship is excellent. A true custom built home. A unique choice of materials and not many builders can build this type of build so full credit is due".

The team at Joyce Constructions are experts in their field and hands-on builders. Overseeing every aspect of a project, the focus is on delivering the highest quality end result, every time.
Born and bred in Telegraph Point, it was a natural progression for Mitchell to start his working life as an apprentice carpenter with a father in the trade. A life-changing accident in his early 20s meant Mitchell was not able to have a life on the tools. With sheer drive and determination, and through three years of rehabilitation, Mitchell completed his builder’s course via TAFE and became a qualified builder.
Mitchell worked as a Foreman under Pat Gibson and learnt the ropes of overseeing large scale commercial projects as well as residential new builds and renovations. A strong background in construction, Mitchell’s strengths lie in forward planning a building project to ensure that every trade runs smoothly, and thinking outside the box to find solutions to any building challenges that may arise on site.
With nearly two decades in the construction industry, Chris has gained a wealth of experience on residential and commercial projects with a range of building companies. With solid training and experience in carpentry, Chris has also gained a certificate in plastering, as well as worked for a landscaping company.
Carpentry is what Chris loves, and returned to the trade to work with Joyce Constructions as Foreman / Leading Hand. Chris most enjoys the diversity that carpentry brings, and seeing the look on a client’s face when they see the end result.
Outside of work, Chris spends time with family and friends, or you might find him fishing or on the look-out for new projects.
